Missouri State receives more than $1 million for scholarships, JQH ArenaMissouri State University students on campus.
More than $1 million in gifts have been committed to Missouri State University in recent weeks. About half of the gifts are for academic purposes and the other half to support the JQH Arena. Three new gifts have been established in the Missouri State University Foundation to support academic programs. Two of the gifts support scholarships for students, and the third provides an endowed professorship. Read more...

University to honor five former faculty, staff members on Wall of Fame
Five former Missouri State University faculty and staff members will be recognized for their combined 144 years of full-time dedicated service with plaques on the university’s Wall of Fame located in Plaster Student Union. The 2007 Wall of Fame Class includes: the late Dr. William Jack Bush, the late Gene Ellis, R. Todd Morriss, the late Olan Oatman and Dr. Orin Robinson. The 2007 class of inductees will be honored during a special ceremony at 1:30 p.m. October 26 in the Plaster Student Union, Ballroom West. The event will be open to the public. Read more...

Missouri State University conferred 2,070 degrees to students this spring during commencement ceremonies May 18 at Hammons Student Center. Community leaders Jim Anderson, Annie Busch, and Jim

Missouri State selected for Academy for Assessment of Student Learning
Missouri State University has been selected to participate as a pioneer in the Higher Learning Commission’s Academy for the Assessment of Student Learning. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the university accrediting body, initiated the academy in 2006 and accepted Missouri State in the first cohort of 14 institutions. The HLC Academy intends to improve the assessment of student learning through action projects that occur on each campus during a four-year period. Read more…

Students' unneeded items benefit poor, homeless
Students donated items to poor and homeless in the community.Continuing a six-year partnership between local charitable organization The Kitchen and the Missouri State University department of residence life and services, Missouri State students living in residence halls this year donated thousands of food, clothing, and other items to the poor and homeless in the community. A note of thanks to Missouri State parents
Phone campaign student callers send a special thank you to parents who provided support for the Duane G. Meyer Library fund. Over 2,000 Missouri State parents made pledges totaling over $104,000 to the library. Thank you to all parents who help make Missouri State a better place for their students and future students.

University seeks nominations for honorary doctorate
For the sixth year, the public will have the opportunity to nominate outstanding citizens for an honorary doctorate degree from Missouri State University. The deadline for receiving nominations is September 30. Read more…

Missouri State Baseball Bears move on to the majorsRoss Detwiler
Junior lefthander Ross Detwiler was the sixth overall selection in the first round of the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year Draft and will join the Washington Nationals. Junior right-handed pitcher Scott Carroll is going to the Cincinnati Reds, junior second baseman Matt Lawson was picked by the Texas Rangers and junior right-handed pitcher Jake Shafer has been tapped to join the New York Yankees club. 

Hinton, Behr selected for year-end Missouri State athletics awards
Golfer Sally Hinton has been named to receive the 2007 Missouri State Outstanding Female Athlete Award for her accomplishments while field hockey player Melissa Behr is the winner of the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Senior Female Scholar Athlete Award. Read more...

Season tickets to JQH Arena go on sale to general public
All 22 private suites in the new JQH Arena at Missouri State University have been leased. The initial response to an early invitation to members of the Bears Fund has yielded reservations for 30 courtside season seats, 29 loge seats and 400 “Premium One” seats. Now, it’s time for the general public to begin reserving season tickets for the 2008-09 season. Read more...
