Seven honored at Wild with Pride Homecoming
The Missouri State University Alumni Association Homecoming Dinner and Awards Ceremony was held on Friday, October 26 at University Plaza Hotel. Following dinner, a select class of Missouri State alumni and former faculty was recognized for their outstanding achievements. At this annual event, the Award of Appreciation was presented to Dr. Nancy L. Curry, professor emeritus of health, physical education and recreation at Missouri State, Springfield; and John E. Patton, professor emeritus of finance and general business at Missouri State, Springfield. The Outstanding Young Alumni Award was presented to Dr. Dennis W. Smith, Jr., ’88, professor of organic chemistry at Clemson University, Seneca, South Carolina. Recipients of the Outstanding Alumni Award were Edward D. Chapin, ’64, attorney, Chapin Wheeler, San Diego, California; David L. Lenox, ’83, vice president of sports, Special Olympics International, Fairfax, Virginia; and Alex N. Paradowski, ’72, president, Paradowski Creative, St. Louis, Missouri. Alumnus Kenneth E. Meyer, ’50, founder and president of Meyer Communications, Springfield, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Missouri State student selected as a Rhodes Scholar finalist David Vinyard, a May 2007 chemistry graduate in the Honors College, became the first-ever Rhodes Scholarship finalist from Missouri State University. Read more…
Missouri State's Bronze Bear Award goes to the McQueary Family
In recognition of its multi-generational involvement with Missouri State University, the McQueary Family of Springfield has been selected to receive the 2007 Bronze Bear Award. The McQueary Family will be the eighth recipient of the award, which is presented to those who have exhibited “extraordinary achievement and/or outstanding support” for Missouri State. Read more...

In keeping with Missouri State University’s statewide mission in public affairs, the university’s curriculum is designed to teach students to be responsible citizens and leaders. End of Year/Holiday Giving reminder
Please keep Missouri State University in mind when planning your holiday and end of year giving. Your gift, no matter the size, helps Missouri State University students reach their highest potential. Foundation offices will be closed for the holidays December 24, 2007 until January 2, 2008. Please make year end gifts early – especially if they involve stock transfers. Checks received in the mail by January 3, 2008 that have December postmark dates will be handled as 2007 gifts. You can make your gift online, right now at Giving to Missouri State.
