‘Our Promise’ campaign announced, goal set at $125 million
Missouri State University alumni and friends, as well as the campus community, were on hand August 28 for the announcement of the university’s new comprehensive fund-raising campaign: Our Promise: The Campaign for Missouri State University. Missouri State receives ‘Best in the Midwest’ designation
The Princeton Review features university as a 2010 ‘Best College’
For the seventh consecutive year, Missouri State University has been selected for inclusion in The Princeton Review’s 2010 online list of “Best Colleges: Region by Region.” Missouri State is one of 158 schools on the site receiving the “Best in the Midwest” designation and has been included on this list since its inception seven years ago. Jerry HooverBand director inducted into Bandmasters Hall of Fame
Jerry Hoover, director of bands at Missouri State University, was inducted into the Missouri Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame. Hoover has taught band for more than 50 years, the last 24 of them at Missouri State. Read more…

BearWear Fridays
BearWear Fridays began at Missouri State University on August 28. This new, comprehensive, university-wide initiative will create a weekly opportunity for Missouri State faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, boosters and supporting organizations to show their pride in the university. Wyman Scholars Endowment establishes scholarship at Missouri State 
Wyman Center in St. Louis has established a new scholarship program at Missouri State University. The Wyman Scholars Endowment will assist graduates of Wyman programs who choose to attend Missouri State University. Three full ride scholarships, available for four years each, were awarded to Kenneth Harding, Evy Eschbacher and Emily O’Donnell for the 2009-10 academic school year, with the possibility of more being funded in the future. Missouri State selected to participate in study of eCitizenship
Study focuses on technology’s power to engage, empower citizens
Missouri State University has been selected to participate in the new initiative of the American Democracy Project, “eCitizenship: New Tools, New Strategies, New Spaces.” This will be a three-year program led by the Center for the Study of Citizenship to develop an understanding of the capacity of technology, especially social networks, to engage and empower citizens.. Missouri State opening day enrollment sets new record
Missouri State University’s Springfield Campus will open the fall semester with 17,385 students, an increase of 743 students (4.5 percent) over the opening day of fall 2008. Enrollment on opening day at Missouri State-West Plains is 1,953 students, a 14 percent increase compared to last fall, when 1,715 students were enrolled for classes on opening day. Read more...

The Bears Football season kicks off Saturday, September 12 at 3 p.m. as the Bears host Tennessee-Martin. Be sure to come out and Experience Missouri State Football at Plaster Sports Complex all season. Print this month’s newsletter and take it to any Missouri State ticket window and receive one FREE Ticket when you buy a ticket of equal value. Offer good for any September football game which includes the UT-Martin game, Murray State on September 19 at 3 p.m., and UNI on September 26 at 1 p.m.

Bears Live offers live and on-demand action
Missouri State University is proud to announce the arrival of Bears Live for the 2009-10 season. Bears Live is a subscription-based package that allows Bears fans to watch select live and on-demand sporting events. This season’s streaming schedule will include most home Bears football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games.  Starting with the September 12 football game against Tennessee-Martin, Bears Live will give Bears fans video content all season long on their computer. Fans can go to Bears Live and sign up for a subscription today.

Final scrimmage of fall camp is a wild one at Plaster
Missouri State's final intra-squad scrimmage of its 2009 training camp was a wild one. The Bears' offense collected 576 total yards, while the defensive unit came up with a pair of interceptions, three sacks, six pass break-ups, and two blocked kicks. Read more…
