Community invited to participate in Homecoming parade The Springfield community is invited to participate in Missouri State University’s Homecoming parade on Saturday, October 31. Entries should incorporate this year’s Homecoming theme, “The Ultimate Adventure.” Plaques will be awarded to the top three community entries. Read more
‘Running of the Bears’ to kick-off Homecoming day
5K run/walk part of "The Ultimate Adventure"
Missouri State University will host Running of the Bears, a 5K run/walk to begin Homecoming day activities. The race will begin at 7 a.m. at the bear statue in front of Plaster Student Union. On-site registration will begin at 6 a.m. The pre-registration fee is $18 and $23 on the day of the race. The race fee for students with a valid ID is $12. Read more
Congressman Blunt announces NSF Award to Missouri State University
Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt announced today a three-year grant with first-year funding of $264,747 from the National Science Foundation for new research at Missouri State University. Read more
Students dig in, help out the community
Students who participated in the landscape design class through Citizenship and Service Learning at Missouri State University this summer had their work revealed as the Child Advocacy Center hosted a ribbon cutting and open house for their center’s new addition September 15. Read more
UMKC and MSU partner to provide Doctor of Pharmacy program on Springfield campus
The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and Missouri State University (MSU) in Springfield, Missouri, have entered into an agreement that will allow students on the Springfield campus to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UMKC. Read more
AASCU launches national social media project
The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), in partnership with the Center for the Study of Citizenship at Wayne State University, has launched an innovative project that will research the use of social media tools for civic engagement. Read more
IDEA Commons receives $2.75 million from federal stimulus funds
Missouri State University will receive a $2.75 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to help establish the Entrepreneurship and Business Development Center in the former Willow Brook Foods facility as part of the IDEA Commons urban research park. Read more

Bears Cross Country strong in Missouri State Classic
The Missouri State Cross Country squad, led by sophomore Terry Phillips, finished fourth in the Missouri State Classic. Read more
Men’s Golf leaves Kansas with seventh place finish
Missouri State Men's Golf completed the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate on September 22. As a team, the Bears shot 615 in two rounds, earning them a seventh place finish. Read more
Bears rally to win Payne Stewart Memorial in record fashion
The Missouri State women's golf team fired a school-record 290 in the final round to capture its own Payne Stewart Memorial at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Missouri. Entering the final round four strokes behind Arkansas State, the Bears stormed from behind to overtake the Red Wolves and win by 11 strokes. Read more
2009 NCAA Midwest Region Cross Country Championship
Missouri State University and Springfield, Missouri are excited to serve as the host of the 2009 NCAA Midwest Region Cross Country Championship on November 14. Read more
Dramatic late rally propels Field Hockey to first conference win
Alyssa Hile's overtime goal capped a late Missouri State field hockey comeback, as they scored a crucial conference win, 3-2 over the Ohio University Bobcats at Plaster Field. Read more
Bears fall to no. 3 Northern Iowa before packed house at Plaster
No. 3 Northern Iowa outgained Missouri State 396-185, but the Bears rallied for a 16-play touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter to break up the shutout in a 35-7 Panthers win. Read more
Second half surge leads Bears to 3-1 win over SMU in SMU Classic
The Missouri State men's soccer team (4-2-1, 1-0-0) used a second half surge to rally and defeat SMU (3-4-1) in the final match of the SMU Classic in Dallas. Read more
Handley’s goal gives Bears conference opening win
Freshman forward Becky Handley scored in the first minute of play to lead the Missouri State women's soccer team (5-4-2, 1-0-0) to victory in the conference opener against UNI (2-6-2, 0-1-0) at Plaster Field. Read more
Bears end Wichita State streaks with 3-2 win over no. 20 Shockers
The Missouri State volleyball team stood toe-to-toe with 20th-ranked Wichita State Friday at Hammons Student Center and handed the Shockers their first loss in their last 38 MVC road matches and 36 overall regular-season contests with a five-set victory in front of a crowd of 2,387. Read more
