Construction on JQH Arena officially begins with groundbreaking
Construction on Missouri State University’s new $67 million JQH Arena officially began on December 21 with a groundbreaking ceremony. The new arena, located on the parking lot just east of Hammons Student Center, is scheduled to open in November 2008 in time for the 2008-09 basketball season. Read more....
New scholarship to cover all tuition for neediest students
“A student from a family with a high income is seven times more likely to complete a baccalaureate degree or higher than a student from a low-income family,” says Missouri State University President Michael T. Nietzel. “If we are going to improve access and increase affordability – if we are going to democratize society and make higher education the opportunity equalizer it should be – then we must take steps to change this statistic.” Read more...

Missouri State University Foundation endowment tops $51
The endowment at Missouri State University has topped the $50 million milestone. It is the first step toward a larger goal, according to Missouri State President Michael T. Nietzel. “When I came to the university in the summer of 2005,” said Nietzel, “I made it clear how important a strong endowment would be to the future of Missouri State University. I also was very public about my desire to take the endowment ultimately to $100 million.” Read more…
Missouri State University cited as a 'best value' institution
Missouri State University has been selected for inclusion in The Princeton Review’s 2008 edition of “America’s Best Value Colleges.” Missouri State is one of 165 schools nationwide to be selected for inclusion. Missouri State was also included in the 2007 edition. Read more…
Up 'til Dawn celebration wraps up year of fundraising
Wrapping up eight months of fund-raising activities, Missouri State University students celebrated a successful first year with Up ’til Dawn, a program committed to raising money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Agriculture department head honored for leadership contribution
Dr. Anson Elliott, agriculture department head at Missouri State University, was named Agriculture Leader of the Year at the 40th annual Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture. The title was awarded by Agricultural Leadership of Tomorrow (ALOT), a leadership program representing full-time farmers, agribusiness and other agriculturally-oriented professionals in rural and urban areas. Construction management students take second in competition
Construction management students from Missouri State University placed second in the American Concrete Institute International (ACI) Concrete Construction Competition. Students Stephen Monsanto, Brian Ross and Mathew Bradford developed a solution to a cold-weather concrete construction problem typical for construction managers. Read more…

“The Hangout” Hospitality Room for Missouri State Fans at St. Louis Union Station
Drop by the official Bears fans’ hospitality room at St. Louis Union Station – we’ll be in a new location in the northeast corner of the lower level near the 18th Street entrance. Enjoy complimentary soft drinks and snacks, and visit with other Missouri State fans. “The Hangout” will be open during Missouri State game days from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (except during the Missouri State games). Attend the most exciting pep rally in the MVC two (2) hours before every Bears game! We’ll provide the soft drinks, snacks, and entertainment by the Pep Band, Cheer Squad and Sugar Bears… just bring your Bear Spirit! “The Hangout” is THE PLACE to meet your friends!

Need Game Tickets?
All session tickets (9 games) are $90 and on sale now. Individual session tickets are $27 and $21. Children under three are free. Tickets may be purchased at the Scottrade Center Box Office, all TICKETMASTER TICKET CENTERS, by phone at 314-241-1888 for an automated line or 314-421-4400 or 618-222-2900 for a sales rep, or online at ticketmaster.com. A limited number of tickets may be sold at “The Hangout” until two hours before each Missouri State game based on availability. Check local media outlets for the dates/times of the Missouri State games as the Bears progress through the tournament.

Men’s Basketball BracketBuster game on ESPN2
The O’Reilly ESPNU BracketBuster game in Hammons Student Center that takes place on Friday, February 16, between the Missouri State Bears and the Winthrop Eagles will be nationally televised on ESPN2. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.(CST). Missouri State Bears are currently 17-7 for the season and are third in league standings with an 8-5 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Winthrop Eagles own a 19-4 season record and lead the Big South Conference with a 10-0 league record.
