Missouri State's Springfield campus sees increases in target populations
Missouri State University’s Springfield campus saw increases among several key groups in its official spring enrollment figures as part of its overall Missouri State System increase. The official spring enrollment for the Missouri State System shows a total of 19,654 students, 2 percent higher than at this time last year. University programs aimed at increasing specific enrollment targets appear to have had their intended effects. Read more....
Endangered species research gets boost from endowment, professorship
Dr. Dennis Schmitt, professor of agriculture at Missouri State University, has been named the recipient of the new Alumni Professorship in Reproductive Biology – the first endowed professorship in the university’s College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS). Read more...
NSF grant to fund undergraduate research program in math
This summer, nine undergraduate students from throughout the United States will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with three members of Missouri State University’s mathematics faculty to develop and execute original research projects as part of a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Missouri State Celebrates African American history
Missouri State University’s office of multicultural student services is presenting a month-long celebration of African American history. A variety of informational events and speakers will be presented throughout February and March recognizing the history and culture of the African American community. The month will be centered around the theme, “Democracy and Freedom.” Read more…
University schedules events to celebrate women's history
Missouri State University is providing an assortment of activities honoring women and addressing current gender issues in recognition of Women’s History Month. The university will present speakers, films, a dinner, workshops and theatrical presentations as part of its annual celebration of women’s history. Read more…
Governor Blunt Outlines Higher Education Initiatives; Missouri State President Michael T. Nietzel Comments
In his State of the State address, Governor Matt Blunt unveiled his priorities for public higher education. The Governor recommended a budget that contains a total increase for institutions of 4.5 percent ($39.5 million) and $25 million in the Fiscal Year 2007 supplemental for scholarships and an additional $20 million for scholarships in the Fiscal Year 2008 budget. March Madness begins in St. Louis with Arch Madness
Be there when the Bears battle conference rivals in Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Action!
Quarterfinal action pairs Missouri State Bears against Wichita State Shockers at 8:35 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at Scottrade Center. The tournament, which features nine games in four days, culminates on Sunday, March 4, with a nationally televised championship game on CBS Sports at 1 p.m. CST. Six games (the four quarterfinals and two semifinals) will air on FSN Midwest and Comcast SportsNet. All nine games of the tournament will be available on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Bears close home season with win No. 21
The Missouri State Bears celebrated Senior Night the way Bear teams have done for nearly two decades as they shot lights-out in the second half and rolled to a 92-74 Missouri Valley Conference basketball win over the Drake Bulldogs Saturday night in Hammons Student Center before an overflow crowd of 8,916. It was the Bears’ 21st win in 30 games overall and they closed the regular season by winning their home finale for the 18th year in a row. Read more…

Bears Cross Country Ranks Seventh in Nation in Academics
The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Thursday its 2006 NCAA Division-I All-Academic Teams. Missouri State University once again made the association's list of honorees. With an average cumulative GPA of 3.617, MSU ranks seventh among the amazing total of 145 teams that received Division I Women’s All-Academic Cross Country Team honors for the 2006 season.
