R.E.A.L. Bears

R.E.A.L. Bears (Recruiting Emerging Alumni Leaders) is sponsored by the Missouri State Alumni Association. R.E.A.L. Bears promotes an understanding and awareness of alumni programs while students are still enrolled in school and encourages their loyalty to Missouri State after graduation.

R.E.A.L. Bears is about getting involved with the university, developing leadership skills, connecting with alumni, building relationships, community service and much more. R.E.A.L. Bears are involved in university-sponsored events such as Homecoming, Class Reunions, New Student Festival, Greenwood Homecoming, Missouri State Athletics and many others.

A Brief History of R.E.A.L. Bears

Sponsored by the Missouri State Alumni Association, R.E.A.L. Bears was established at Missouri State in 1987. Participation in R.E.A.L. Bears projects and activities gives members a sense of accomplishment, lasting friendships, resume-building skills and is a great way to network for the future.

Who are R.E.A.L. Bears?

R.E.A.L. Bears is a diverse group of current Missouri State students. We are male and female, freshman through seniors, Greek and non-Greek. Members all have one thing in common—we all have enthusiasm for our university.

R.E.A.L. Bears have amazing leadership opportunities within our organization and can use those learned skills throughout their academic experience and in future careers.

What do R.E.A.L. Bears do?

R.E.A.L. Bears participate in many activities such as hosting skyboxes at Missouri State football games, distributing gate handouts at football, basketball and baseball games, and assisting with Homecoming and other Alumni Association events, such as the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and Alumni Night at Hammons Field. R.E.A.L. Bears have a unique opportunity to network with campus and community leaders, apply for an exclusive scholarship and build life-long relationships.

Membership Requirements

Application for membership is open to any Missouri State student who maintains a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, has at least two semesters of school remaining and is enthusiastic about Missouri State.

Selection of new members will be determined through an application/interview process. Recruitment officially begins at the New Student Festival, and will continue throughout both the fall and spring semesters.

Meetings are held bi-monthly and in Plaster Student Union.
