The Alumni Association Council is a larger body of alumni volunteers that represents more targeted interests of key constituent groups, and meets the specific volunteer needs of key program areas.
The purpose of the alumni council is:
- To cultivate a broader range of perspectives and volunteer skills for the successful achievement of Alumni Association goals
- To ensure the voices and interests of all interested alumni constituencies are represented
Council members have no voting privileges on the Board of Directors, but they may be asked to participate in Board committees.
The Alumni Association Council as a volunteer body has no governance responsibility or term limits.
Council members will be asked to attend the Alumni Association’s annual meeting in conjunction with Homecoming.
Unlike Board members who are selected to represent the association regardless of their individual affinities and affiliations, Alumni Association Council members will most often be selected to represent a particular affinity (i.e. college, student group, region, special-interest). In other cases, Council members will be selected based on special skills or volunteer interests as needed by the Board.
